tomatoes Cold Storage Room Myanmar

Case Study: 487m³ Potato Seed Cold Storage Warehouse in Myanmar
Project Specs: 32m × 15.24m × 6.4m | Seed Potato Preservation Cold Room, Myanmar

Project Overview
This customized potato seed cold storage project is built in Myanmar for a local agricultural planting enterprise, with overall dimension of 32m ×15.24m ×6.4m, total effective storage volume around 487 cubic meters. The whole cold room is specially designed for medium-long term storage of potato seeds, to control seed dormancy, suppress premature sprouting and reduce rot loss during inventory cycle. Our team delivered full one-stop service including thermal insulation panel construction, refrigeration unit matching, internal evaporator installation, on-site commissioning and operational test. After formal handover, the warehouse runs stably under set storage temperature and fully satisfies local farmer’s annual seed reserve demand.
Client Background & Core Challenges
The customer is a Myanmar local agricultural supplier who provides certified potato seeds for dozens of regional planting farms. Before building this dedicated cold storage, they stored potato seeds in ordinary makeshift warehouses and faced several tough troubles:
1. Uncontrollable ambient temperature: Natural indoor temperature fluctuates sharply along Myanmar’s tropical hot & humid climate, high ambient heat triggers early germination of potato seeds, which greatly cuts seed utilization rate and brings heavy economic waste.
2. High mildew & rot rate: Excess ambient humidity leads to bacterial reproduction inside potato sacks, around 18% of seed potatoes got rotten during seasonal stock previously.
3. No standardized cold chain management: Lack of fixed low-temperature storage space forced scattered batch storage, difficult for unified stock management and outbound scheduling.
To solve above pain points fundamentally, the client cooperated with us to construct a professional constant-temperature seed potato cold storage warehouse.
Customized Cold Storage Design & Equipment Configuration
3.1 Warehouse Structure & Insulation Design
The entire enclosure is assembled with high-density polyurethane insulated sandwich panels with good heat insulation and moisture-proof property. Vertical load-bearing concrete pillars are reserved inside to share roof load and avoid panel deformation under long-term cold-hot alternation. A customized thermal-insulated sliding cold storage door is installed on the warehouse sidewall to minimize cold leakage during regular goods access.
3.2 Full Refrigeration System Matching (Bitzer Brand Core Configuration)
- Condensing Unit: Adopt 2 sets of Germany Bitzer 35Hp semi-hermetic compressor, matched with BBF2-70MBYEA + dual FNV383A air-cooled condenser sets, installed outdoor on the ground beside cold storage room. Bitzer compressor features stable cooling output, strong high-temperature ambient adaptability, perfectly fitting Myanmar’s year-round high outdoor temperature environment.
- Internal Evaporator: Equipped with 3 units DL49/503EA ceiling-type air coolers evenly mounted on indoor ceiling, realizing uniform cold air circulation across full warehouse space, eliminating local hot spot and uneven temperature problem.
- Temperature Control Target: Designed storage temperature: +2℃ ~ +6℃, adjustable precision ±0.5℃, ideal constant-temperature environment to keep potato seed dormant status without sprouting.

Construction Implementation Process
1. On-site measurement & layout confirmation according to client’s land condition and stacking plan;
2. Factory pre-production of PU insulation panels and customized door accessories;
3. On-site enclosure assembly, pillar protection and ground moisture-proof treatment;
4. Outdoor condensing unit fixing, copper piping welding and refrigerant pipeline layout;
5. Indoor DL series evaporator hoisting & electrical control system wiring;
6. System vacuuming, refrigerant charging, full-load cooling test and temperature calibration;
7. Final acceptance & operation training for customer’s on-site operators.

Post-project Operation Benefits
1. Seed loss sharply reduced: Under stable +2~6℃ storage environment, potato seed sprouting & rot rate dropped down below 3%, saving huge annual seed procurement cost for client.
2. Flexible stocking cycle: Client can purchase high-quality potato seeds in low-price off-season and store for full-year supply, optimizing capital turnover.
3. Energy-saving stable running: Original Bitzer compressor + matched condenser configuration cuts comprehensive power consumption by nearly 22% compared with irregular assembled refrigeration system in local market.
4. Scalable storage space: With pallet stacking design inside the warehouse, the cold room can store roughly 120 tons of packed potato seeds at full load, meeting the client’s expanding business demand in next 2~3 years.
