Project Overview

This complete industrial cold chain project is located in Manta, Ecuador, built for a local seafood and food processing enterprise. The project integrates ultra-low-temperature blast freezing, frozen storage, ice storage, constant-temperature processing workshop, and industrial flake ice making system. With multiple temperature zones ranging from -35℃ quick freezing to 5–10℃ processing environment, the plant realizes a fully closed production, freezing, icing, processing and storage cold chain.

To adapt to Ecuador’s humid coastal climate and 24-hour continuous industrial operation, we adopted full Bitzer original compressor refrigeration systems with customized high-efficiency air coolers and condensing units for each temperature zone, ensuring stable cooling performance, precise temperature control and low energy consumption for long-term commercial operation.

Full Project Cold Room Parameters & Equipment Configuration

This project consists of four functional cold rooms and one flake ice system, covering all links of food processing production:

2.1 Ultra-Low Temperature Blast Freezer Room (‑35℃)

Used for rapid freezing of fresh seafood and food products to lock freshness, moisture and texture, avoiding large ice crystal formation during freezing.

2.2 Frozen Storage Cold Room (‑18℃)

Standard frozen warehouse for long-term finished product storage, keeping food fresh and stable for long-distance export transportation.

  • Room Size: 14m × 12m × 6m
  • Temperature: -18℃ constant frozen storage
  • Condensing Unit: XJB30LBBGWC-FB, equipped with Bitzer 4GE-30Y-20P 30HP Compressor × 2 units

2.3 Ice Storage Room (‑10℃)

Special cold room for storing flake ice, ensuring ice does not melt or agglomerate during production standby and daily storage.

  • Temperature: -10℃ constant temperature
  • Condensing Unit: XJB07LBBGWC-FB, Bitzer 4DES-7Y-20P 7HP Compressor

2.4 Constant Temperature Processing Room (5–10℃)

Clean and constant-temperature working area for food sorting, trimming, packaging and pre-processing, effectively preventing product temperature rise and secondary deterioration during manual operation.

Supporting ice-making equipment for seafood fresh-keeping, cooling and processing line use.

Project Background & Client Challenges

The client is a professional food and seafood processing exporter based in Manta, Ecuador. Before the new cold chain system was built, the factory faced many production limitations:

  • No professional ultra-low-temperature quick-freezing equipment, resulting in poor product taste and short shelf life.
  • No independent ice storage room, causing ice melting waste and unstable ice supply during processing.
  • Uncontrolled temperature during manual processing led to high product deterioration rate and failed export inspection.
